Based in Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Stag Bakeries is a family-run bakery with a heritage dating back to 1885. Although many things have changed since those early days, traditional recipes passed down for generations and time-honoured methods remain at the heart of the business. Everything is made on-site on the Isle of Lewis and the company now employs over 60 people. Stag’s team of skilled craft bakers use only the finest ingredients and take great care with every product they make. The result is an award-winning product range trusted for quality and provenance. Stag’s speciality is producing a wide array of bakery products from fresh morning goods to savouries to biscuits and cheese straws. Our signature products are our Plain Loaf, voted Best Bread in Scotland in 2019, and our Stornoway Water Biscuit, a versatile accompaniment for cheese. Stag also runs a mobile shop service supplying groceries to rural areas which remains a great way to connect with our local customers.
Scottish Baker of the Year began in 2012 by the trade association Scottish Bakers. It rewards top quality baked goods made in Scotland by hard working bakers every single day.
